Free Discord Honeypot Bot
Catch spam accounts with Sentry's free Discord honeypot protection. Turn a channel into a spam trap that automatically bans members who post in it, logs incidents and helps clean up their recent messages.
Honeypot is a built-in feature of Sentry, the bot at sentrybot.net. It is not the standalone bot of the same name.
The only accounts that trip it are spam bots and hacked accounts posting in every channel they can see. Pixel Hangout • Automated protection · only administrators are exempt
What is a Discord honeypot?
A honeypot is a trap channel that real members are told never to use. Spam bots and hacked accounts post the same message in every channel they can see, so they post there too. A Discord honeypot bot watches that one channel and removes whoever posts in it.
It works because it doesn't need to understand the message. Posting in the channel is the signal, so a new spam link or a reworded scam is caught just the same.
Honeypot, AutoMod and anti-raid

From setup to catch in five steps. After setup, everything happens automatically, within moments of the message.
-
1
Pick a channel
An administrator runs /honeypot setup on an existing text channel.
-
2
Warning posted
Sentry marks the channel as a trap and posts a "Do Not Post Here" card.
-
3
Someone posts
A spam account that isn't an administrator sends a message there.
-
4
Deleted and banned
Sentry deletes the message, DMs the account, and bans it. No one has to approve it.
-
5
Logged for review
A case is recorded and a log card with an Unban button goes to your log channel.
Spammers usually hit several channels at once. Sentry acts on their first message only, so one account is banned once.
Honeypot features
Automatic spam-trap bans
The moment a non-exempt account posts, Sentry bans it. There's no confirmation step, so spam doesn't sit there while staff are asleep.
Message cleanup
On a catch, Discord deletes the account's recent messages across the whole server: only the trap message, their last hour (default), last 24 hours, or last 7 days.
Detailed incident logs
Each catch posts who it was, their ID, the channel, when the account was created, what they posted, the case number and the time.
Reversible bans
An administrator can press Unban on the log card, or use /unban. The card updates so the ban can't be undone twice.
Simple channel setup
Use any existing text channel. Setup takes one command and posts the warning for you.
Moderation case integration
Catches are recorded like any other ban, so they show up in a member's history and in your moderation log.

/unban/honeypot setup, only you see this confirmation. It lists who is exempt and what gets deleted.

Full honeypot docs →Free Discord spam trap, alongside the rest of Sentry
Honeypot costs nothing, like everything else in Sentry. The same bot also gives you anti-nuke, anti-raid, AutoMod, logs and moderation commands.
- Automatic bans
- Message cleanup
- Catch logs
- Unban button
- Case history
- One-command setup
What honeypot can't do
-
Ban is the only action
You can't switch it to a timeout or kick.
-
Real members can be caught
Anyone who isn't an administrator, moderators included, is banned if they post. Use the Unban button if it happens.
-
Only catches what posts there
Spam that never reaches the trap channel isn't caught. Pair it with AutoMod and anti-raid.
-
Bots and webhooks pass through
Messages from bot accounts and webhooks are ignored.
01What is a Discord honeypot bot?
A bot that watches a trap channel members are told not to use. Spam accounts that post in every channel post there too, and the bot removes them. In Sentry, honeypot is a built-in feature, not a separate bot.
02Is Sentry's honeypot feature free?
Yes. Sentry has no paid tier or subscription, and honeypot is available to every server.
03How do I create a honeypot channel?
Create a text channel everyone can see and send messages in, then run /honeypot setup channel:#your-channel. Sentry posts the warning for you. Add log_channel to get a log card for each catch.
04Does Sentry automatically ban members who trigger the trap?
Yes. Anyone who isn't an administrator is banned as soon as they post, with no confirmation step. The message is deleted and they get a DM saying why.
05Can legitimate Discord members accidentally get banned?
Yes, if they post in the trap. Moderators are not exempt. The warning card makes the rule clear, and an administrator can undo a ban with the Unban button or /unban.
06Can I choose how many messages are deleted?
Yes. delete_messages deletes only the trap message, their last hour (default), last 24 hours, or last 7 days of messages across the server.
07Can administrators reverse honeypot bans?
Yes. Press Unban on the log card, or use /unban. The unban is recorded as its own moderation case.
